An almost unrecognizable Bunnings is featured in this TV commercial from Western Australian television, 1989.
1987 'Fisherman's Wharf' TV Commercial, Gold Coast Australia.

'Fisherman's Wharf' was a (much missed) eating & entertainment venue at 'The Spit' on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia in the 80s & 90s. Extremely popular on Sunday Afternoons, It was replaced by the (not so popular) 'Palazzo Versace' Hotel in 2000. I saw 'Nirvana' play there on the afternoon of Jan 26, 1992, as they were becoming the biggest band in the world. They were booked months befo...

7 years ago... I don't think. X by 20 years.
Fuck sake I'm going back in time..
Really in Hindsight way ahead of his time with all the comments...way more thoroughly presented than today comparatively speaking
don't forget , they never gave decent fuel consumption ,or went well until Rod Hadfield of Castlemaine , made conversion plates for Ford or GM , V8's ,
I love seeing Sydney in all its 80s glory... ❤
22:52 This guy just predicted C.V T....tranissions 35 years before they were in cars at all❤
When Peter werett drives the car He has straight line He has more control over The car they should teach the P plate drivers to drive the car The same way
When you get the wheel alignment right the amount of petrol you save and money and the is a better to drive and goes along by itself
Oh what a feeling Toyota! 🎉
Loved his stereotypes.
Boring man reviewing boring cars. I would have liked to see him review a car wearing a dress.
He was an idiot and a misogynist.
Had the CL station wagon in 82. Rusty back then. Bought 450$
He was definitely the best motor car reviewer
Peter werett is a head of his Time talking about fuel conservation he. Was a head of his Time and when the car just take the car to the limit
44 years later got a couple in Melbourne 🤣
That’s hard work chucking on of those V8s around Amaroo Park…
What a great wheel alignment to steer straight where Mr& Mrs average would not knew All they're is a good knowledge of the basics
All you have to do is just wait for the car to come on the second hand market and by
I like the way Peter werett has a straight line when driving the car should be taught to the P plate drivers and they're have control over The car
The theme takes me back immediately...funny what you remember.
Cheers from 2024 Canberra mate.
As I recall, graziers were meant to have 4x vehicles: 1. Statesman/Merc/Fairlane, for a gentleman to cruise 2. Subaru Leone, for the missus to run into town 3. Landcruiser [duh!] SWB/LWB optional 4. At least one Suzuki Jimny, possibly unregistered & rusty. =)
A Sigma 2.6L is likely the worst handling car I've ever driven...ignoring my awful 3.3 VB. _19:25__ Peter takes his hat off to go into Borg Warner, very period correct. =)_
Thanks from 2024 Canberra.
Gotta say the 1980s Merc 190D is the slowest car I've ever driven. Even our 1979 Landcruiser I6 I learned on was faster lol. I miss Peter & his common sense.
Thanks for posting this.
Life was so much better for most people in the 80s. _<- statement of fact._
My little Suzuki Turbo RS is the spiritual baby hot hatch successor to this bad boy! =)
Lot of that's pritty common sense that sadly is getting less & less common, but with the bike vs the car in braking in different conditions that's invaluable advice
ABC Australia after Los Angeles 1984.
North America be like
Reminds me of a woman who scuba dives in a yellow bikini.
Alfa Romeo they're The only car has got factory rust
Ha! the Jaguar. An expensive luxury car fitted with nasty fault prone Lucas electrics. Was Wherrett's claim that it consumed 13 miles per gallon correct through? The XJ weighed the same as my 1977 Ford Fairmont wagon, which achieved about 23-24 MPG.
If I was young and silly i would like to have the Jaguar car Or sovern double six over not a japnese tin heap where you can get on out and walk beside the car
Oh, lawdy..... 🤦♂️ Almost all the music in each episode, is cheesy - but this ep. could take the cake. 😬 24:30 - To accompany the vision of an old-skool* Morgan on a jaunt through some forested country roads, _someone specifically chose the worst music imaginable...!_ 🤯 * A tautology, I know. 😅
The incidental music, especially in the first bracket, is _perplexingly_ shitty. 😵💫🙉
It's almost like he's wearing a Bearskin.
Why did everyone run out of Hungry Jack's?
Full lock to lock while stationary is ESSENTIAL.
Wow prophetic, interesting the same arguments and excuses still given 40 years on 🤔
Interesting in his time but lacking credibility on many fronts.I did not have any of his scary problems in V dubs I drove for around 30 years often very hard. From memory there was a distinct dislike of anything German for many years. Cheers.
Nice one Pip.
You made him drink KB Lager? No wonder his driving turned to shit! That stuff could've killed 'im !! 🤣
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe.
Brilliant!
Peter was a very good motoring journalist, he stood up to the big 3 (G.M.H. Ford, Chrysler) in the 70's and 80's and made public the faults that existed in their products, he was always pushing for safer cars, there was no bullshit with him, he told it like it was. R.I.P. Pete.....
Torque…with Pippa Wherrett…
He was correct half of these suv s we have today still couldn't half of what the old 4x4 s could do. Also you don't see honest car reviewers like Peter. If they were like Peter there would be very minimal car reviews as today's society is to soft . Political left wing retardedness going on . Car manufacturers would die at the thought of Peter reviewing there cars today. And ban him from there products
